School Supplies for Kids

We have all witnessed the concern, worry, and diligent efforts of public officials, educators, and parents regarding the opening of school this fall. During these unprecedented times, we have become more aware of the desperate need for resources among the most vulnerable in our communities. No one knows the need more than Elizabeth Caisey, Director of the Community Corner in Dorchester, MA. The community center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that serves the residents of the New Franklin Park apartments and the surrounding neighborhood. The center is entirely dependent on donations.

CNA learned about Community Corner through our relationship with Mass Fallen Heroes director, Dan Magoon. In the early days of the pandemic, Dan expressed his concern to Rob DiFazio, CNA’s CEO, that he would not be able to support the center as he had in the past. Hearing about the need, Rob immediately put his team into action. Some staff focused on food donations while Joy DiFazio took the opportunity to help in another area. She had learned that Elizabeth Caisey hoped to organize a community block party that would feature a food giveaway and a traditional giveaway of backpacks filled with school supplies. Joy enthusiastically accepted the challenge of sourcing supplies needed by 185 kids, K through 12.

We at CNA Stores are again proud to carry out a philanthropic project to support a community that we serve. We are especially proud of Joy who went above and beyond to make this project such a success.
