At CNA Stores, we believe that a cannabis business can be more than just a place to shop—it can be a force for good. And nowhere is that belief more evident than in our ongoing support of Our Neighbors’ Table, a vital community nonprofit based in Amesbury, MA whose mission is to establish a food-secure region where no one goes hungry, overlooked, or unsupported.
In a state where the cannabis industry is still finding its footing in the broader community, CNA Stores is proud to lead the way in cannabis philanthropy—and we’re proving, month after month, that our customers care deeply about their neighbors and hometowns.
For more than 30 years, Our Neighbors’ Table has served individuals and families across northeastern Massachusetts by providing dignified, reliable access to nutritious food. Their flagship grocery market in Amesbury offers free, weekly groceries to anyone in need—no proof of income required. This commitment to stigma-free food access is what sets ONT apart, creating a model that restores dignity and promotes community health.
From distributing meals to seniors to filling lunchboxes for school children, their work touches every age group and background. In 2023 alone, ONT provided over 1.7 million meals to households in need across more than 12 local communities.
Our team at CNA Stores was inspired by local legends like Amesbury Industrial, a family-run hardware store with a 50-year history of giving back. That same spirit of community service guided us when we launched our Charity Jar program—a simple but powerful way to turn everyday cannabis purchases into meaningful donations.
Every month, customers shopping at our Amesbury or Haverhill dispensaries can round up their totals or donate to a featured nonprofit at checkout. In return, CNA matches those customer donations by rewarding retail staff at the end of the year, recognizing that it takes an entire team to drive meaningful change.
To date, CNA customers have donated $22,239.92 to Our Neighbors’ Table, (and another donation of $9,312.00 in 2022). That’s not from big corporate checks—it’s from regular people rounding up their change, tossing in a dollar, or adding a few bucks to their order without hesitation.
When we first opened, some residents expressed concerns about cannabis businesses operating in town. We heard fears about “those people” coming to shop. Now, years later, we can confidently say: “Those people” are your neighbors. They’re parents, veterans, caregivers, teachers—and they’re incredibly generous, compassionate, and invested in their community’s wellbeing.
Our partnership with Our Neighbors’ Table shows that cannabis customers care about more than flower and pre-rolls. They care about food insecurity in Massachusetts, they care about local causes, and they care about doing good for real people.
CNA is proud to be a model of philanthropy in the cannabis industry. As we’ve grown, so has our impact—surpassing 3,000 community service hours since 2020 and donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to local nonprofits and initiatives.
We don’t do this for press or praise. We do it because it’s the right thing to do. And we do it because we believe that cannabis businesses have a duty to contribute to the communities that welcome them and trust them.
To every customer who’s ever dropped change in the jar, shared a kind word with our staff, or told a friend about CNA: thank you. You’re not just supporting a local cannabis shop. You’re helping feed families. You’re fighting stigma. You’re showing what “community” really means.
As Our Neighbors’ Table says—it truly does take a village, and we’re honored to be part of it.
