420 and Earth Day

Apr 21, 2021

What could be better than having 420 and Earth Day in the same week? Prior to joining the industry, this writer took the whole week off to celebrate 420 and Earthday together when I could get away with it. This year, I was able to help plan the festivities. And CNA has an additional reason to celebrate. This was our first 420 holiday working together as a team. We recognized the challenges and our obligation to both staff and customers due to the pandemic, so we planned a socially distanced celebration at our stores. I must say, we had a blast! The customers who shared the day with us seemed to have as much fun celebrating as we did. That means a lot! There were prizes, giveaways, Ovedia Artisan Chocolates, PuffCo, and Garden Remedies on hand. There were a lot of smiles. But the week is not yet over.Earth Day (4/22) is an ideal time to highlight our company’s focus on sustainable practices. CNA Stores is constructing a state-of-the-art, sustainable cultivation center. We expect to re-use 85% of our water, utilize an on-site solar farm, work with UMass Lowell’s plastic lab, recycle our waste (stems and sticks), and use sustainable products for packaging. As part of our commitment to our communities, CNA is observing Earth Day by joining forces with the Clean River Project on
April 22. An all-volunteer effort since 2005, Clean River Project has been removing trash and junk from the banks of the Merrimack River. Tires, old cars, plastic bottles, and bikes are removed and recycled when possible or disposed of responsibly. Both CNA stores are located on the banks of the river in Amesbury and Haverhill. These communities are our home. We are hoping that community volunteers will join us when we help with the cleanup this week.Pandemic or no pandemic, CNA has enjoyed a safe, responsible celebration of 420 and will now celebrate Earth Day by helping to clean up our environment. We hope to inspire our communities to get involved.
